Liver cancer starts in the cells of the liver. Many cancers can occur in the liver but the most common is the hepatocellular carcinoma that happens in the main cell of the liver or hepatocyte. Other liver cancers like hepatoblastoma and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma are less common.

Causes of Liver Cancer:
Liver cancer occurs when there is a mutation of the liver cells or changes in the DNA of those cells. DNA offers instructions for each one of the chemical processes that happen in the body. Mutations in the DNA alter these instructions. These cells can go out of control and transform into a tumor that is a mass of some cancerous cells.
The cause of liver cancer is not clear like with chronic infections of hepatitis. However, liver cancer takes place in the body when there is no underlying cause of the disease.
